Oil Cannot Be Borrowed

In Matthew 25, Jesus tells the story of ten virgins waiting for the bridegroom. Five were wise and five were foolish.

What stands out to me is this:

They all had lamps.

From the outside, they looked prepared. But when the bridegroomwas delayed, the difference became clear. The wise hadextra oil.The foolish did not.

And when the foolish asked the wise to share their oil, they couldn’t.

Why?Because some things cannot be borrowed.

You can listen to someone else’s sermon, receive encouragement from their testimony, learn from their revelation, and be inspired by their faith—but you cannot borrow their relationship with God.

You have to know Him for yourself.

Your Lamp Is What People See. Your Oil Is What God Develops Privately.People may see your gift, ministry, business, title, platform, or accomplishments. But they don’t always see the prayer.

They don’t see the surrender. They don’t see the obedience. They don’t see the waiting. They don’t see the moments when God corrects you, strengthens you, heals you, and teaches you to trust Him.

Oil is cultivated in the secret place. And sometimes the waiting season is exactly where God develops it.The bridegroom’s delay exposed who had prepared for more than the moment.
